“THE ART OF PRESENCE: BALANCING CREATION AND CONSUMPTION”
Estimated Reading Time: approximately 4-6 minutes
I've always been brimming with thoughts and ideas, and have made it a priority to capture these wherever I am—be it in the shower, driving, at my desk, or out exploring. There are numerous ways for creators to document their experiences today, from Instagram stories and YouTube videos to podcasts. These platforms not only allow us to express ourselves and share our ideas but also to hold onto these moments for personal reflection and enjoyment.
For some time, I struggled with the method and medium for capturing and displaying my ideas and stories. I've come to realize that sharing your ideas is just as crucial as capturing them.
Through this blog, my aim is to document and release more of my ideas, sharing my story more openly. I have music I’ve created and haven’t released, and thoughts I’ve kept to myself. This blog is my platform to tell these stories.
I discussed this concept with Kelly recently, comparing it to our juice business. When I started learning to make juices—recipes my mom shared with me—I could have easily kept them within our household. Instead, I found fulfillment in sharing them at the farmer’s market and within our community. Now, I want to apply the same principle to my ideas, thoughts, and passions.
However, there's the challenge of capturing and sharing these ideas while remaining present in the moment. While I enjoy watching YouTube videos, making them myself proved difficult. I found that focusing on filming took away from experiencing the moment. Moreover, after capturing the footage, the need to edit and color grade to achieve the quality I envisioned became a barrier to just sharing the ideas.
Editing videos turned into learning color grading and other aspects of videography, which hindered rather than helped. I want my outputs to be professional and high quality, but not at the cost of excessive time investment—a balance I underestimated initially.
This blog is my new approach. It allows for a simpler way to capture my thoughts through words and images without the complexity of video production. This method is less cumbersome, allowing me to stay present and share without the perfectionist tendencies that often delay my process.
Ultimately, this blog is about finding a balance between quality and efficiency, enabling me to share my creations while also enjoying the creative process itself.
